Relationships, Sex and Health Education policy
The school has recently reviewed its RSHE policy to ensure that it is fully aligned with updated national guidance that will come into effect from September 2026. The changes are minor and are designed to strengthen clarity around pupil safety, safeguarding and inclusion, particularly in relation to online risks and respectful relationships.
Importantly, there are no changes to:
-
The statutory status of Relationships Education and Health Education
-
Parental rights, including the right to request withdrawal from sex education outside the science curriculum
-
The age-appropriate and sensitive way these subjects are taught
The updated policy continues to focus on helping pupils develop healthy relationships, understand how to keep themselves safe, and build the confidence and knowledge they need as they grow up. Teaching is always delivered in an age-appropriate, inclusive and respectful way, and is closely linked to our safeguarding responsibilities.
A consultation period for parents will run from Monday 9th March to Friday 27th March. As part of this process, we have shared the updated RSHE policy on our school website, which includes a summary of how RSHE is delivered in our school. Parents and carers are invited to share their feedback during this period via a Microsoft Form before the final policy is published.
We will be holding an information session in school particularly for Year 5 parents on Friday 17th April at 9am. However, all parents are welcome to attend to ask any questions.
