Headteacher’s Welcome - September 2023

On behalf of the staff, children and parents, I warmly welcome you to The Hawthorns Primary School.

Our website is designed to offer a window into the vibrant daily life of our school – a thriving and popular community at the heart of leafy Woosehill. We are proud of our welcoming environment, set within spacious, well-equipped grounds that inspire learning and play.

At The Hawthorns, we are committed to nurturing every child’s unique potential. Our dedicated and skilled staff work hard to provide the very best education and care, supported by a strong partnership with our Trust, an engaged local community and wonderfully enthusiastic parents.

We take great pride in our caring and inclusive ethos. Every child is encouraged to flourish and we make it our mission to nurture, develop, and celebrate individual talents and gifts. Our children arrive eager to learn and we strive to build on that enthusiasm with learning opportunities that are engaging, memorable, challenging and tailored to meet the needs of all learners.

“Leaders are determined that pupils do well and want the best for every child.”

Ofsted 2022

Children are at the centre of everything we do. Their safety, happiness and wellbeing are our highest priorities. Our vision is underpinned by our core values: Belong, Believe, Achieve, Grow. These values shape our ethos, curriculum, policies and the rich experiences we offer across school life.

Our inclusive and diverse curriculum encourages curiosity, creativity and collaboration. It offers opportunities for children to engage, question and build their own ideas in order to become the best learners that they can be. We have high expectations of our children: of their academic attainment, their effort, behaviour and personal development. We promote a growth mindset and aim to unlock the potential of the whole child by focusing on a set of Aspirational Qualities throughout our curriculum. We support children to build resilience, grow in confidence and take pride in contributing positively to their school and the wider world.

At The Hawthorns, children not only make good progress and achieve academically – they also develop the personal skills and mindset to succeed in the next stage of their education and beyond.

We believe that strong partnerships between school and home are vital. By working together with parents, carers and specialists, we ensure the best outcomes for all our children and create a learning environment where every child feels valued, supported and inspired.

It is a privilege to lead such a dedicated team and a joy to be part of such a special school community. I look forward to welcoming you to The Hawthorns Primary School and sharing in the exciting journey ahead.
